In my job I get about a dozen emails every day from companies trying to sell me something. Most people don’t open these emails and, in general, I don’t either. However, one email I received from a company selling some sort of training caught my eye as it started with the following line:
Dear principle
It continued:
IS YOURE SCHOOL ADEQUATLEY PREPARED TO DEAL WITH A MEDICAL EMERGENCY?
Most people would just ignore the email, mistakes and all. Unfortunately, my teacher instincts kicked in. My virtual red pen was in overdrive. How could any professional entity send an advertisement with 3 spelling mistakes in the first two lines?
So I rang them.
I spoke to a very nice lady who managed to avoid admitting that she, herself, had written the email. I pointed out the mistakes and she thanked me.
Five minutes later, an email arrived in my inbox from the same company with an apology for the first email at the top. It read:
Apologies for previous error’s
I didn’t ring them back.
