I am more than a bit excited writing this post. Five years ago, I attended my first ever advanced poetry workshop in Bantry despite chancing my arm applying for it. I remember I had just won a local radio poetry competition and I rang the West Cork Literary Festival Box Office to see if it was enough. The lady was very nice and told me to apply anyway. A couple of months later, I was sat in a workshop led by Ruth Padel with the likes of Doireann NíGhriofa and Breda Wall Ryan as well as other well known poetry faces. I had the most amazing week and just about held my own in their company. Some of the poems that are now in Jewtown were first conceived at this workshop, including Chopped Herring and Preservation.
I’m delighted to say that I am now reading as part of the festival in Bantry Bookshop. You can get more details about this reading on my events page. 2016 is shaping up to be the best year ever!
