Where were you on 23rd May 2015? I had one of busiest but proudest days as an Irishman. It started in Portlaoise at Educate Together’s AGM where I gave a short talk with another principal in social media in our schools. After my voting the day before, it was to more voting at the AGM. I had to go to Dublin to talk at another conference so my school’s motion was moved to first on the agenda and thankfully it passed.
It was to Dublin Castle for the Excited festival next where I took part in a panel discussion on coding in schools. Before that, it was clear that marriage equality was going to pass so a celebratory lunch of oysters was had in Temple Bar. Dublin Castle was already starting to fill when I hit there and when I left, it took almost 30 minutes to leave. I dropped into the Front Lounge to give my friend a big hug and ran to the train. Everyone just seemed happy.
I managed to get home to give Emrys a kiss goodnight before heading out to celebrate an historic and happy day where love won out in the end.
